For just the third time in our little festival’s eight-year history, Mountain Passes will be available both privately and publicly. This is something we re-introduced last year, and a decision we continue to make carefully.
Diega has always been an intimate gathering. We’ve grown steadily and expanded slowly, cherishing what takes place each year and being mindful of the magic we might lose if we grow too quickly.
We are considerably smaller than even our boutique brothers and sisters. While many independent festivals welcome 2,000- 3,000 people, the mountain’s capacity and limitations mean we choose to operate with almost half that number. Our ticket prices remain in line with similar festivals, but we have to make it all happen with far fewer attendees to share the costs.
We don’t do this for profit. Diega is not a money-making machine or a big commercial venture. It’s a labour of female-run love, a ritual, a temporary little world we get to build together once a year. We do it because we believe there’s something worth protecting in these experiences, and because we want to keep creating something that feels increasingly rare.
That doesn’t mean we’re exclusive. We know there are wonderful people out there who would love to join and contribute to this community. We simply want to grow thoughtfully, without compromising the intimacy, character and pizzaz that have made Diega what it is.
Good people know good people, so we trust you to share this little world with those who will appreciate and care for it as much as we do.
Eight years in, we intend to age gracefully together, shit knees and all.
Mountain Passes, releases and resale
As always, Mountain Passes will first be released privately via email to past attendees, giving our returning community priority before we open the doors to newcomers.
General Release opens Thursday 5 November at 6PM AEDT.
Mountain Passes are strictly limited by the mountain’s capacity. Once they’re gone, they’re gone.
Official resale will only open once the festival has sold out. We ask that you please understand why this matters.
The reality is that this little festival’s pulse barely beats financially as it is. We operate on incredibly tight margins, and when people purchase through resale rather than directly from us before we've sold out, it puts the festival's financial viability at risk. The same applies to refunds for changes of mind or personal circumstances.
As a small, independent festival with significant costs committed well before the gates open, we simply cannot afford to operate like a large commercial event. Every ticket sold directly supports the festival going ahead, and every unsold ticket makes that harder.
For this reason, please only purchase a Mountain Pass if you genuinely intend to attend and understand that tickets are non-refundable for changes of mind or personal circumstances, except where required by law. We appreciate that circumstances change, but we ask you to consider this commitment before purchasing.
